POSTERS & ARTWORK

Posters, artworks, and other visual displays can indicate to guests that the organization is welcomes and affirms of LGBTQ people and communities. While pride symbols (e.g. rainbow flag, pink triangle) are familiar and recognizable, there are many creative ways to communicate organizational values and commitments to LGBTQ access. The following list is based on recommendations from diverse community-based organizations and includes affordable prints and free downloads by LGBTQ artists and social justice printmakers. Please feel free to contact us with suggestions to add to this list.

Note: Visual cues alone do not make an organization accessible.  While hanging a poster or rainbow symbol is a relatively simple adaptation, organizations should not take this step prematurely. Signaling that the organization is open and affirming for LGBTQ people should follow (rather than precede) meaningful action and commitments to reducing barriers and increasing access.
